Building Technical Officer
The Waimakariri District Council is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer - Building on a permanent basis in Rangiora, North Canterbury. The Waimakariri District offers a wide range of recreational and lifestyle opportunities and is a very desirable location, being less than 30 minutes drive from Christchurch.
The primary function of the role is the provision of pragmatic and timely advice on building matters, the Building Code and building law. You will work seamlessly between the Customer Services Team, Planners and the Building Unit being the first contact for walk-up and phone queries. Accordingly, you must have an eye for detail, a sound understanding of the New Zealand Building Code and importantly are able to communicate technical information in layman terms.
This role is an ideal stepping stone for an individual who would like to become a Building Inspector or Consent Officer.
This is a full-time role and would suit someone that already has significant experience in the building industry and wants to build a rewarding career utilising their experience and knowledge
Sound emotional intelligence, well-developed literacy and computer skills are essential. You will be a team player with a "Can do" attitude and be prepared to go the extra mile for our customers.
