Water Engineer

The Waimakariri District Council is seeking a Water Engineer within the Utilities and Roading Department, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled engineer to join a progressive and customer-focused Council. This is a permanent full time position with the responsibility of overseeing the operation of Council's water supply assets and services.

The Waimakariri District Council serves a community of nearly 60,000 that is experiencing rapid growth. This growth, along with an increased focus on drinking water at a national level, has made water supply one of the key issues in the Waimakariri District.

The position of Water Engineer is a new role within the Water Operations team within the 3 Waters Unit, which sits within the wider Utilities and Roading Department. You will have overall ownership of the operation of our water supplies, including maintenance contracts, management of service requests, as well as responding to natural events. This is a great opportunity to work closely with the public, Council, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results.

This role will suit a qualified engineer, preferably with a degree, with technical expertise in Water Engineering. Ideally applicants should have experience with managing maintenance contracts and water supply operations. Strong leadership, oral communication and system analysis skills are essential for this varied and challenging position.
