The Waimakariri District Council operates three Aquatic Facilities in the North Canterbury region including Dudley Park Aquatic Centre in Rangiora, Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre and Oxford Community Aquatic Centre.

From these facilities, we provide a high-level customer experience to a wide range of users ensuring that each facility is being utilised to its full potential.

We do this by offering high quality facilities and programming, including our WaiSwim Learn to Swim programme, delivering aquatic instruction to the individuals and students within our district.

To assist with this, the Council is currently seeking applications for Learn to Swim Schools instructors at both our Kaiapoi and Dudley Park Aquatic Centres. You will be working with a team to deliver a dynamic Learn to Swim programme to primary aged students.

Hours of work will fall between 9am and 3pm daily, following the 40-week primary school term. Due to the nature of working in with multiple schools schedules, the specific hours will vary from week to week however; we generally deliver 4-5 hours of programming per day. The work is on a casual basis with rosters generated in advance.

As a Learn to Swim Schools instructor, you will be a passionate team player seeking a role, which shapes the skills and abilities of children within our community. You will be great at communicating, breaking down ideas and build rapport with your students.

Industry experience and the ability to work with a diverse customer base would be of benefit. Previous experience teaching Learn to Swim is not essential, but would be an advantage and the successful applicant will hold or be capable of achieving the Swim Teacher Award.

In return, we will provide you with the opportunity to make a difference in this community. We will work with you to develop your skills through ongoing training and provide opportunities to grow by learning skills in other areas of the business. You will help to grow recreation participation within the district and contribute to the growth and develop of your team. We offer a competitive remuneration package with flexible working arrangements, which allow for a great work life balance.
