Waimakariri District is one of the fastest growing Districts in New Zealand and the fourth largest, by population, in the South Island. The Council is seeking an Engineering Technician within the Project Delivery Unit, based in Rangiora, North Canterbury to help deliver the capital works and renewals programmes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and skilled engineer, technician or engineering graduate to join a progressive and customer-focused Council. This is a permanent full-time position with the responsibility of providing engineering design and draughting on a variety of projects in a long-term sustainable manner. We currently have some exciting water, wastewater, and stormwater projects underway offering challenge and variety.

The Engineering Technican is an entry level role within the Utilities & Roading Department and a key part of the Project Delivery Unit. You will be responsible for producing civil designs and drawings, providing design inputs through investigations and surveys, and supervising construction. This is a great opportunity to take ownership and work closely with the public, Council, consultants, and contractors to deliver outstanding results.

This role will suit a qualified or graduate engineer or technician, with technical expertise in civil engineering design and draughting. Ideally, applicants should have experience in draughting, civil engineering design principles, and construction techniques. Strong organisation and oral communication skills are essential for this varied and challenging position.
